His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III, through Proclamation No. 976, has elevated the status of Iloilo Business Park? from an IT park to a mixed-use special economic zone, which highlights tourism as another primary component of the integrated urban township.
President Aquino signed the proclamation upon the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
With a total land bank of 72 hectares, Iloilo Business Park is envisioned to become the next central business district in the Western Visayas region.
Apart from BPO office towers, the township will also feature a Megaworld Lifestyle Mall, luxury residential condominiums, hotels and commercial hotspots, and the much-anticipated Iloilo Convention Center, among others.
